We aren't going to have a giant master bath in this house, but it will have everything the homeowner needs and includes truly beautiful finishes. But first, let me update you, because the floor plan has changed a bit since the last time I shared it. For starters, we've replaced the tub with a large shower and a built in bench. There are two other bathtubs in the house, so we didn't think a 3rd one was necessary. ![]() |

And then I saw on Houzz, one of my favorite websites, a newly published 2014 Winter Bathroom Trends study that found more and more homeowners are leaving a bathtub out of the master (Click Here for the full study). I guess we're trend setters! The other big design change is including a stackable washer/dryer closet, to make laundry chores convenient! It took up a good bit of the master bath, but I keep hearing from potential buyers that they really like having the laundry on the 2nd floor (of course, we'll still have the old hookup in the basement)
The predominate colors will be a classic combination of black and white marble. The marble-mosaic compass rose links to Casco Bay, which is only a few steps from the house. It will be featured in the shower wall, behind a set of glass doors. The large black vanity provides lots of counter space (something I can never get enough of!) and storage space. Its carrera marble top ties beautifully with the mosaic shower and floor. And I found this top of the line Newport Brass faucet at a tent sale from our local plumbing supply house. I can't wait to see it installed.
Our installation schedule was moving along beautifully until today. The shower was delivered and we realized it's the wrong size. Yikes! And getting a new one that's the right size has a lead time of 3-4 weeks - which seriously impacts our schedule. So while I had hoped to have photos to share sometime soon……it's actually going to be a bit of a wait.
So, what do you think? Do you like the classic black and white?
