About Us

About Me:

Hi, I'm Laurel.  And I LOVE to renovate old houses.  After 30 years in the corporate world, I wanted to try something completely new.  So, I left my job and created SoPo Cottage LLC, to follow my passion.  How much entrepreneurial skill did I have?  Zero.  Crazy?  Maybe!  But I wanted to give it a try.  And thanks to a team of creative craftsman and occasional help from my husband Richard, I'm giving it a whirl.  So far, so good - but I've quickly learned this isn't for the faint of heart!!!

Please join me as I share our adventures on this blog (and Facebook and Instagram).  Technically, you could say we are 'flipping' houses, but I hate that term (which frequently means cheap, cosmetic updates, without fixing major issues) since we focus on high quality renovations. You'll get to see what works and what doesn't, as I design, renovate and decorate these houses.  And you'll see how we maintain a balance between antique amenities and the needs for today's modern lifestyle.  Hopefully, we can share some insights and inspiration along the way!
