Nursery Planning!!!

It's official.  We're going to be grandparents!  Hooray!  And guess what, it's a.....
So, let the nursery planning begin!!!    We are so excited about the baby.  And planning is a big part of getting ready.  Beth and I have been creating Pinterest boards and have a few ideas we like - check them out here: Pinterest Nursery Board.  But there's more research and work to be done, before the baby comes.  Her top request - not too much pink (despite what you see in the photo above!!)

Here are some initial thoughts.  But I'd love to hear your ideas!  Do you have an approach that isn't overwhelmingly pink?

  1. Congratulations, Laurel! There's nothing better than being a Grandma (or Nana or whatever you decide to be called).

  2. It may not fit your decor theme, but Uncle Milton's 'moon in my room' was the best thing ever. It lets of a really pretty, soft, night light. I breast fed to it, now we use it as a night light- Charlie has been obsessed since day one- he's going to be our little astronaut. Maybe she will too!

We have 3-4 of the light products from Uncle Milton, we are total suckers. Charlie has 'Earth in my room' now too and Ethan has the 'fireflies in my room'.

  3. So funny you mention that Candice, because we're having an active debate over what to be called! It's a good thing the baby won't be talking for awhile, because it may take us some time to figure out!

Mollie - thanks for the tip!! I have a huge learning curve on all the cute baby things out there. These are adorable!

  4. One of the girls in my class calls one of her grandmothers "Grandmommy" which is totally cute.

http://projectnursery.com/projects/grays-nursery/ - This is a cute nursery, without a ton of pink... unfortunately, there is not a ton of pictures.

http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/h-is-for-harpers-roomnursery-t-116287 - This is also a cute nursery... I especially love the name framed above the bed!

http://projectnursery.com/projects/a-nursery-for-baby-mirra/ - This one is gorgeous... a dark grey & yellow with hints of pink. I know that grey/yellow is such a trend, but I love it together! Also, the bunting over the window? Cute!

    http://www.spearmintbaby.com/2011/07/yellow-silver-nursery/ - Another gorgeous grey/yellow nursery!

http://projectnursery.com/projects/arias-nursery/ - Look at the bench under the window... the 3rd picture is a great view of it... totally DIYed from old wood, and it looks incredible! Totally something I bet you and Richard could do. :)

And this last link is not decor related.... http://www.babylit.com/shop-books/ - Fun board book versions of classic books... although they'd look gorgeous staged in a room for pictures, they would be an incredible keepsake for mom & baby!

P.S. Congrats!!! You'll have to keep us updated on nursery ideas, I can't wait to see what you guys do! It's going to be stunning!

    1. These are fabulous!!!! Thanks so much for sharing. I love how they used artwork to personalize the rooms. And the big pouty things hanging from the ceiling instead of a mobile. Very clever!

      Thanks again!

I love the fancy frame that they used to put the little girl's initial in! And yes Laurel, I am going to continue to send any fun ideas for little girl nurseries your way!

    3. Thanks so much - you're the best! I love the little shelves. But I don't think I've ever seen a frame that cool before. Wow!

  6. Congrats on all counts - new house, new baby takes on a totally different meaning lol!
Baby will call you whatever SHE wants to call you. The variations of Grandma/Nana, etc. are truly amazing. My favorites are those that Hallmark doesn't make a card for cause they are unique.

  7. I am not affiliated with Heather Bailey, but I've made baby quilts (for girls) out of her Freshcut fabric. The colors are so inspiring for baby girl nurseries ... soft, a bit of pink, but also green, blue, brown.

  8. Hello Laurel: Beth and I are "chicken friends".
I have 5 grandsons, they call me Nana, Nanna, Nenu. To tell the truth, I chose Nana, because is was closer to Mama. Seriously it really doesn't matter what they call you, just that they learn you will ALWAYS be there!!!

I am so happy for Beth and Joe and WELCOME to being grandparents, it is the
    GREATEST!

    1. Thanks so much....you're right the name hardly matters. It's all about the relationship. We just can't wait for the baby to get here so we can join the grandparents club!!
