It's taken us a long time, but at long last our
Contemporary Cottage Kitchen has gone from a plan to reality. It's a bright, open space - leading to both the Living Room and the Dining Room. A far cry from our starting point!
Remember this? The bathroom was in the kitchen, the ceiling had water stains from burst heating pipes and the plastic 'tile' was falling off the wall.

Kitchen - Before |
Now, the walls have been opened up, the family bath is upstairs and there is lots of counter space, seating and storage throughout the kitchen. Don't you love the Martha Stewart cabinets? The beadboard insets look amazing and the stainless pulls add a nice mix of contemporary with traditional.

Kitchen - After, but I wish I'd taken the drill of the counter before snapping the photo! |

Kitchen - During |
Here is a 'during' photo, showing the wall coming out between the living room and kitchen.
Now, the boarded up window is gone and both have been replaced with larger windows. We have lots of lighting - recessed, pendants and under the counter task lights.

So what do you think? Will someone fall in love with this kitchen?

I'm in love with that kitchen! And I'm sure I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot - lovely colors (which paint color did you end up using?) I also quite like the drill since it shows some blog humanity ;-)

Glad you enjoyed the drill!!! The paint color is Early Morning Mist by Benjamin Moore (but I had Sherwin Williams mix it up for me). I used it throughout the first floor and in a couple of the bedrooms. It's a nice neutral that goes with everything!
DeleteSO gorgeous! Love the dual countertops, cabinet insets and the sink faucet. Great job you two!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! The sink faucet is really amazing. I think I need one for my house!
DeleteKitchen perfection! You aced every detail!!
ReplyDeleteI am in Lust with this kitchen !!!!!!! If it were possible, I would divorce my husband and marry this house. You folks really know how to take a lump of coal and turn it into a diamond. I can't wait to see the completed project.

Thanks so much Vanessa! We are thrilled with how it came out. And never fear, mum's the word. We'll never let your husband know!!!
Deletefake parquet again, right?
ReplyDeleteYup! They liked it a lot :-) But after 30-40 years, it was time to get rid of it.
