Choosing Exterior Paint Colors - Help Needed!

This is the first house that gave us the opportunity to choose the exterior paint colors - all the others had siding that determined that for us.  So I was really excited to get started.  I had my heart set on blue gray siding, white trim and a deep blue front door.

But there was a problem with that.

Typically when you choose colors for the exterior of the house, you should look to your right and left.  Ideally, you want some color variation on a street.  And that's where we have a challenge.  Here are the houses that surround our project.  Seems like everyone loves shades of gray!  And they look fantastic, but I really can't paint our house gray as well.

So.....back to the drawing board.  The original color was a creamy yellow color, which seems like a good option.  Or perhaps a taupe/beige, which would be a nice contrast with the other homes on the street.
After sifting through lots of paint chips and samples, we've settled on two different options.  We're painted them both on the front porch.  Both options will have bright white trim.  And we want a punch of blue on the front door.  So, what's your vote?   Option Left?  or Option Right?  I'll be posting them on Facebook as well.  I'd love to hear your input!
Option Left

Option Right

Many thanks!

  1. I like the beigey taupe on the right, it says "warmth" more than the other one :)

  3. Thanks so much for the feedback!!! It's been fun looking at options and trying to decide what would work the best on the street!

  4. I don't get it--isn't the color on the right grey? I think you should paint it what you want and not worry about the neighbors. Four out of the 11 houses on my street were repainted in different colors, so how can you plan for that? It might be weird if they were exactly the same shade but then again, I painted my house the same shade as my neighbor's new vinyl siding (there's a house between us).

  5. The right is much warmer and inviting. The left seems cold.

  6. Ok, I am going to go against all the other votes:) I like the left one better, think it would look best with the blue door:) I don't think it really matters which one because no matter what you will make it look fantastic! You guys are amazing!!

  7. I once read somewhere that homes that are painted yellow, like the colour on the right, sell more quickly than other colours. Apparently, yellow is considered more "homey". Just sayin'...

  9. I went back and looked at the first pics of outside of house. On my screen there was a brownish coloration (dirt?)to the overall look of the house. I like this house in brown so I vote for the right view.

  10. I'm gonna be the only one but I'm voting for the left. I also think a blue would be pretty... like Durf, I say do what you want.
