We had the floors refinished and what a difference they make! The dark floors were nice, but the natural floors brighten up the whole house.
Look at that fir floor in the kitchen!! |
Dark floors were nice - but natural makes the whole house seem brighter |
Look how the finished floor reflect all the sunlight!! |
The floors were followed by my amazing painters - to complete the next step of the transformation. They sprayed the trim, creating a beautiful sheen on all the woodwork. The walls are a soft off-white, called Medici Ivory from Sherwin Williams.
With the painting complete, I started the task of wallpapering the dining room with nautical charts. It's a big project - I had to figure out which charts go where and how to layer them, so they fit together well.
You need a gentle touch on the old paper charts!! |
What else has happened? Well, I'm almost finished all the tile work. The bathrooms are complete, but I'm still waiting on the custom grout order for the kitchen backsplash. I hope to get that completed this week.

The hall bath has a bright stripe of pale blue glass tile
We should wrap up the interior punch list this week. Now we just need some warm weather to get the exterior work completed. Then we're ready to put it on the market!
What do you think so far?

Wow! The floors! Beautiful! I don't know if it always looks so nice but even before it is finished it looks so clean. It is coming to get her nicely. The wallpaper is such a point of interest, I love it. I really like the blue in the bathrooms too. All so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!! I'm so happy with the blue accents - when you live this close to Casco Bay, I don't think you can go wrong with blue!
DeleteGorgeous tile Laurel, I love that!
ReplyDeleteThanks Vanessa. I just love the glass - not sure why I haven't used it before!!!
DeleteI'm in love with this house and all that you've done to bring her back. The blue glass tiles are perfect and your nautical charts are a brilliant nod to where you live. Can't wait to see the unveiling of the entire project.
ReplyDeleteHopefully I can share more photos soon!!!
DeleteDo you mind sharing the details on the blue vanity? I can’t wait to see everything completed!
ReplyDeleteI found it on Wayfair. It’s called the 37 Series vanity (odd name!).
DeleteAnother phenomenal job! Can't wait to see the finale!
ReplyDeleteThanks Denise!!
DeleteI thought I wanted darker wood floors but I love how the lighter color brightens the space ... hmmmm - great job
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your makeovers, so inspirational. I remember in a couple of posts back you talked about "saving" the bathtub in this house. I showed the post to my partner proving I was not crazy for saving ours (its in amazing shape). He is worried that the tub will be an eyesore in our new bathroom. Can you tell me what you ended up doing to assure that the tub looks as beautiful as the rest of the bathroom? Any pictures to share? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSigh....I guess I didn't really talk about the tub saga. While I had really hoped to save it, my tub refinishing guy has retired. The new company is a LOT more expensive. And we discovered leaks in the tub plumbing, that required completely redoing it. So, long story short, I abandoned saving the tub and installed a new one.
DeleteHowever, if you have someone good that can refinish it and your plumbing is in good shape, it's fabulous if you can save it!!
Thanks for your quick response. Looks like ours is in good shape...keeping fingers crossed.
