Though I have seen buildings pull off a aluminum siding quite well though and it looks pretty good. I'll have to see, I currently have just the vinyl and it has been great for me. I keep wondering if we lived out west, if a real wood front door would hold up. Because where we live, you would constantly be refinishing it!<br />LaurelLaurelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18183168966431701470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1918422105938650986.post-16810712237677816922014-02-20T21:13:58.805-05:002014-02-20T21:13:58.805-05:00Thanks Kathy! Thanks Kathy!Laurelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18183168966431701470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1918422105938650986.post-4975347674312735902014-02-20T14:45:50.394-05:002014-02-20T14:45:50.394-05:00I am still a siding snob, but I can feel my willpo...I am still a siding snob, but I can feel my willpower breaking down - and partly because the newer types of siding are sooooo much nicer and don't look so plastic-y. That's my main gripe about siding, the fact that it often makes the house look like dirty plastic after a winter or two. But the newer stuff is better for sure. I also never thought I would be getting a faux wood door, but we just had one installed after the contracter begged me to consider it due to us living close to the ocran (I'm your faithful reader in Cape Elizabeth). I am floored by how nice it is, and even I could not tell it was not a real wood door when they installed it! When something is constantly being pelted with snow, salt air/water, ice you need a sturdy barrier. And the cedar shingle look is a great addition!
